COALITION APPEALS TO CONGRESS FOR INCREASED ACE FUNDING

A spokesperson for the Coalition for Customs Automation Funding, in a letter to coalition members, has requested them to ask Congress to increase ACE funding for fiscal year 2002.

Jim Clawson sent the letter in advance of ACE funding conferences this week. His coalition is appealing to the House and Senate appropriations committees to provide $300 million in funding for fiscal 2002. The House’s ACE appropriation stands at $300 million, and the Senate appropriation is $230 million.

'”The attacks on New York and Washington highlight the urgent need for Customs and other law enforcement agencies to have the enforcement resources they require to carry out their mission,” Clawson said in the letter.
