COAST GUARD CLEARS MAERSK VESSEL IN PORT EVERGLADES

U.S. Coast Guard and law enforcement officials have released the containership 'Maren Maersk' after searching the vessel last Friday in Port Everglades, Fla., Tom Boyd, Maersk’s director of marketing and communications, told Shippers' News Wire.

After receiving a tip that a container on the ship held explosives, the authorities located the container but found only sheets of copper, as indicated on the master’s cargo manifest.

Sailing originally from Bremerhaven, the vessel departed Port Everglades on Saturday. It will transit the Panama Canal and call at ports on the U.S. West Coast before going on to Asia.
