Coast Guard investigates oil spill on Mississippi River
The U.S. Coast Guard in New Orleans is investigating an oil spill on the Mississippi River near Algiers Point where a tug and tanker collided July 29.
About 50 barrels, or 2,100 gallons, of fuel oil were released into river when the tug “Mr. Craig,” collided with the tanker “Eagle Memphis.” Personnel from the Marine Spill Response Corp. and U.S. Environmental services were contracted to clean up the spill.
