Coast Guard, MarAd review Pearl Crossing’s LNG port application
The U.S. Coast Guard and Maritime Administration have received an application from Houston-based Pearl Crossing LNG Terminal to build and operate an offshore liquefied natural gas terminal 41 miles off the coast of Louisiana.
Both agencies must approve the construction of offshore LNG terminals under the 1974 Deepwater Act. The law describes a deepwater port as a fixed or floating manmade structure other than a vessel, or a group of structures, located beyond state seaward boundaries and used as a port or terminal for transportation, storage and further handling of oil or natural gas.
The agencies said Pearl Crossing’s application appears to contain the required information.
