Coast Guard seeks cause of vessel fire in New Orleans
The U.S. Coast Guard has begun an investigation into a two-alarm fire that broke out mid-morning Monday in the engine room of the 'Libra Rio Grand,' a German-flag containership in the Mississippi River near the Napoleon Street Wharf in New Orleans, La.
The engine room was sealed and the ship's CO2 fire extinguishing system put out the fire, the Coast Guard said in a statement.
Two crewmembers were taken to Charity Hospital with minor injuries. No pollution was reported from the 560-foot vessel.
