COBELFRET TO OPERATE PROPOSED RO/RO TERMINAL NEAR LONDON
Cobelfret and the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co. group have signed “heads of agreement” on a proposed roll-on/roll-off terminal, subject to approval, at the London Gateway Port.
Cobelfret operates ro/ro services from Purfleet, near London, to Zeebrugge, Rotterdam and Flushing.
Public inquiries into the London Gateway project begin on Feb. 25 and P&O hopes to start work on the port project next year.
The proposed London Gateway Port would also include a container terminal capable of handling 3.5 million TEUs a year.
