Commerce amends Export Administration Regulations

The U.S. Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security has amended its Export Administration Regulations to update references to particular countries.

The agency’s country chart will now list East Timor and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, formerly Zaire.

It has also created separate export licensing requirements for Aruba and Netherlands Antilles. “This segregation of Aruba and Netherlands Antilles from the Netherlands is not meant as a departure from current export control policy as to the treatment of dependencies,” the agency said.

In addition, the agency has updated references to certain countries to reflect their officially recognized names, such as Macedonia and Montnegro, formerly of the Yugoslav Republic.
