Commerce seeks input for unfair trade mission

The U.S. Commerce Department wants to receive comments from the American manufacturing sector about unfair trade practices occurring in the marketplace.

The department said these comments would be used to lay out initial priorities for its newly developed Unfair Trade Practices Task Force.

On Jan. 16, the Commerce Department released its report: “Manufacturing in America, A Comprehensive Strategy to Address the Challenges to U.S. Manufacturing.” The report identifies current commercial and regulatory hurdles for U.S. companies and how the Bush administration and Congress could help them compete more efficiently in the global market. The Unfair Trade Practices Task Force was set up as a result of the report.

For information about how to submit comments, contact Andrew Lee Beller of the Commerce Department’s Import Administration by telephone at (202) 482-0866 or by e-mail at webmaster-support@ita.doc.gov. Comments are due to the department by June 28.
