COMPAQ PICKS LOGISTICS.COM AS FACILITATOR
Logistics.com, based in Burlington, Mass, a provider of online transportation solutions, has contracted to provide Compaq Computer Corp. with e-procurement capabilities.
The provider will leverage its B2B Digital Transportation Marketplace (DTM) technology to meet the needs of Compaq’s freight transportation network worldwide.
Compaq will use three DTM components: OptiBid-RFP for multi-attribute freight contracting; OptiBid-Online for lane-level contracts, and QuoteShip Exchange for spot-quote transactions.
Compaq cited Logistics.com’s “ability to procure freight globally and across all modes of transportation, using all bidding platforms,” said Thomas Day, Compaq’s director of global transportation.
The first deliverable of the relationship will be a strategic ocean freight transportation bid, according to Yossi Sheffi, chief executive officer of Logistics.com.
