Conferences to lift Panama Canal transit fees
The Trans-Atlantic Conference Agreement and the European/South Pacific and Magellan Freight Conference will next month raise their Panama Canal transit fees, following an increase to the Panama Canal Authority’s containership toll charge.
Effective June 10, TACA’s surcharge for eastbound and westbound sailing will rise to $192 per container from $165 per container. Also June 10, the European/South Pacific & Magellan Freight Conference will raise its fee to $155.
The Panama Canal Authority’s toll charge went up May 1 to $49 per TEU, from $42. The toll is due to be increased again May 1, 2007.
