Connections help grow Paranagua exports

With improving intermodal connections helping to make shipping operations more efficient, the Port of Paranagua, Brazil has seen a 10 percent increase in exports of paper products.

A report from the American Association of Port Authorities said the port's export shipments increased to 161,458 metric tons through the first eight months of this year. The growth is credited to a non-stop rail link between a paper mill owned by manufacturer Klabin in Telemaco Borba in central Parana.

About half of the port's export paper is delivered by rail and half by truck, port officials said.
