CONTAINER CARGO DECLINES IN LONG BEACH
The Port of Long Beach handled 362,658 TEUs in June, a 3.3 percent decline from June 2000.
This was the second straight month this year that totals lagged the year-earlier period. May totals were down 9.6 percent from May 2000. This is the first time the port has had two consecutive months of decline since 1993.
In June, inbound containers were largely flat, at 202,988 TEUs, while outbound container volume dropped 5.9 percent to 78,395 TEUs.
