CONTSHIP, P&O NEDLLOYD DEPLOY NEW 4,100-TEU SHIP IN AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND LINK
Contship Containerlines and P&O Nedlloyd have introduced new 4,100-TEU ships in their recently upgraded Europe/Australasia/U.S. East Coast/Europe eastbound round-the-world service.
The service is operated in cooperation with CMA CGM, Columbus and partners.
CP Ships-owned Contship Containerlines has taken delivery of the second of three new 4,100-TEU ships, the “Contship Australis.” The vessel will enter service on Dec. 17 in Auckland.
Each of the new vessels has 1,300 reefer plugs on board, making them the biggest reefer container ships in service, Contship said.
P&O Nedlloyd has introduced seven new 4,100-TEU vessels, also with substantial reefer capacity, that replaced older ships in the Australia/New Zealand trades.
The weekly eastbound round-the-world service employs 10 ships.
