Corps environmental study underway for proposed Charleston terminal
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin an environmental impact assessment of a proposed ocean container terminal at the former Charleston, S.C. naval base on the Cooper River.
The South Carolina State Ports Authority wants to build a 288-acre container terminal at the south end of the former Charleston Naval Complex. The project includes dredging an 86.7-acre berthing area and turning basin adjacent to the planned wharf.
The Corps will hold a meeting at the proposed terminal site on March 16. For more information, contact Tracy Hurst at (843) 329-8032.
