CORRECTION: TAIWANESE GOVERNMENT TO REDUCE YANG MING STAKE
It was incorrectly reported last week that the Taiwanese government would sell its remaining stake in Yang Ming Marine Transport.
According to S.M. Chen, senior project consultant at Yang Ming, the Taiwanese government has set a policy to adjust it stake in Yang Ming from 42 percent to 34 percent over time.
“Our government held a meeting last December to review the share-holding policy on privatized and privatizing enterprises. They reached a conclusion to reduce the percentage of the government’s share; but to some of the strategic enterprises, the government shall maintain a 34-percent shareholding.” Chen said, “Yang Ming is defined as one of the strategic enterprises.”
Chen added that the reduced government stake will not result in any change to Yang Ming’s policies and operations.
