COSCO AFFILIATE STARTS SOUTHWEST CHINA CONTAINER TRAIN LINK
Penavico, the mainland China agency arm of the China Ocean Shipping Co. group, has started a container train between Zhanjiang, in the coastal province of Guangdong, and Kunming in the Southwest interior of China.
The new rail container service is scheduled to operate twice a week in each direction.
COSCO said that the service aims to facilitate transportation for certain large-sized trading companies in Yunnan province involved in importing and exporting.
COSCO said that its Zhanjiang/Kunming rail link is designed to expand the company’s market share and has met the requirements of customs. It will help Penavico to develop its activities in western areas of the country in the future, it added.
