COSCO CONTAINER LINES REVAMPS HEAD OFFICE ORGANIZATION
Shanghai-based COSCO Container Lines has announced a restructuring of its organization at its headquarters.
“In order to sharpen its edge in market competition, establish and perfect the responsibility system for profits in trade lanes, smooth out the business operation relation, improve work proficiency and to adapt to the new integrated global information system, COSCO Container Lines has restructured its business organization,” the Chinese carrier said.
The new organization will divided mainly by trade route, with new departments looking after the America trade, Europe trade, Asia Pacific trade and Sino-Japan trade, alongside the Trades Service Division and Planning Division.
The former Liner Division, Marketing Division, Freight & Disbursement Department and Operation Analysis Department have been eliminated.
It is not clear whether the reorganization also involves a reduction in jobs.
The reorganization follows last month’s preparatory meeting in Shanghai between Xu Li-rong, managing director of COSCO Container Lines, Chen Jingde, deputy managing director, and Zhang Fusheng, secretary of the Party= Committee of the shipping line.
COSCO Container Lines is part of the state-owned China Ocean Shipping Co. group.
