China Ocean Shipping Co. will add Halifax to its Genoa Express service, calling Genoa and New York, starting May 10.
The weekly service uses two 1,700-TEU ships with service speeds of 22 knots. A third ship will be added to the service in the third quarter.
“The service will directly link Canada to the eastern and western Mediterranean via the port of Genoa,” the Port of Halifax said.
COSCO also calls at Halifax under a transatlantic service inaugurated in October 1998.
