COSCO, YANG MING ADD ASIA/PACIFIC NORTHWEST SERVICE

   From mid-March, COSCO Container Lines and Yang Ming Marine are starting an additional transpacific service covering ports of Asia and Pacific Northwest ports of the United States and Canada.

   The new “CY-PNW” service will commence with the departure of the vessel “Lausanne” from Shanghai on March. 17. The port rotation will be Shanghai; Yantian; Hong Kong; Yokohama; Vancouver, B.C.; Seattle, Wash.; Yokohama; Shanghai; Yantian and Hong Kong.

   COSCO will operate five ships of about 2,500-TEU capacity, with Yang Ming taking 500 TEUs each week. The service will add about 130,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity to the transpacific market.

   COSCO and Yang Ming’s CKYHS alliance partners in the transpacific market, “K” Line and Hanjin Shipping, are not presently taking space on the new service.
