COSCO, Zim to start Mediterranean/West Africa loop
Israel’s Zim Integrated Shipping Services and China’s COSCO Container Lines are starting a joint fortnightly service between the Mediterranean and West Africa.
The vessel “Birte Ritscher” will start the Med/Africa Line service when it departs from Naples tomorrow.
The service will use two vessels of about 1,500 TEUs with both carriers providing one ship. The port rotation is: Naples, Genoa, Barcelona, Lagos, Tema, Abidjan and back to Naples.
COSCO and Zim both take slots from Italian carrier Messina on a 12-day service in the same trade.
