COSCOCS rebrands port terminal operator arm

The renaming of COSCO Pacific, the port terminal operator division of the former COSCO Group, to COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited follows the company’s decision to rebrand its bulk shipping operations earlier this month.

China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (COSCOCS), the newly merged shipping conglomerate formed from state-run firms COSCO and China Shipping, will rename its port terminal operator division from COSCO Pacific to COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited, the company said in a statement.
The announcement follows the company’s decision to rebrand its bulk shipping operations earlier this month.
The COSCOCS board of directors said the name change will “fully reflect that the company focuses on developing as a professional port and terminal operator.”
“Being strongly supported by the world-class container shipping fleet of its parent Company, China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, the Company will continuously enhance its competitiveness in business development in the international market, thereby it will reinforce its leading position in the global container terminal industry,” it added. “The board considers that the Proposed Change of Company Name is in the best interests of the company and its shareholders as a whole.”
