COSCO’s 3rd quarter cargo rises 19.3%

   COSCO Container Lines transported 1.18 million TEUs in the third quarter, up 19.3 percent compared to the same quarter last year.

   COSCO’s parent company, China COSCO Holdings Co. Ltd. said today its container shipping revenue in the latest quarter was RMB 8.56 billion ($1.05 billion), an increase 17.3 from the third quarter 2004.

   Total throughput at China COSCO Holdings’ container terminals improved 15.5 percent to 6.88 million TEUs in the third quarter. For the year to date, China COSCO Holdings’ total throughput equals 19 million TEUs, up 16.8 percent over the same period last year.

   China COSCO Holdings owns 100 percent of COSCO Container Lines and about 50 percent of the port and container leasing company COSCO Pacific. In turn, COSCO Pacific has a 49 percent stake in COSCO Logistics.
