Cote d’Ivoire, Niger ready to join AGOA
The U.S. Trade Representative said Cote d’Ivoire and Niger are now eligible to receive trade benefits under the African Growth and Opportunity Act.
The USTR said both countries have implemented effective visa systems and related procedures to prevent illegal transshipments of textiles and apparel, and have made “substantial progress” toward implementing AGOA-related customs procedures.
AGOA, enacted in 2002, provides preferential tariff treatment for imports of certain textile and apparel products from beneficiary sub-Saharan African countries.
