COYNE LAUNCHES FREIGHTER SERVICE TO SAKHALIN

Coyne Airways said it has launched a freighter service between Seoul, South Korea, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk on the Russian island of Sakhalin.

The service will operate with a committed schedule of three flights a month, offering 12 tons capacity in each direction. Working with partners, Coyne will feed cargo onto freighter operations from points in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia.

Coyne said it chose to kick off a service on the island, as the region is becoming one of the world’s most active oil and gas development areas. Coyne said that Seoul is the best gateway to Sakhalin since it is well served by connecting air-freight services from all points globally.

“A considerable portion of our current business is for project forwarders serving the oil and gas sector,” said Simon Usher, Coyne’s chief operating officer. “This service also strengthens Coyne’s already significant charter expertise in the Russian Far East.”
