CP Ships appoints Rich non-executive chairman

CP Ships said Monday it intends to appoint Nigel Rich as its non-executive chairman.

   Rich is already chairman of U.K.-based global logistics company Exel. He has been a non-executive director of CP Ships since it was publicly listed in 2001.

   Rich’s appointment is subject to a vote at CP Ship’s annual meeting of shareholders today in Toronto.

   At the same time, CP Ships confirmed that Ray Miles, chairman, will remain as acting chief executive officer until the appointment of a new CEO.
