Crowley delays return to Gulfport
Crowley Maritime Corp. said it will delay its return to the Port of Gulfport, Miss. Until Oct. 8, a decision made after assessing the path of Hurricane Rita.
Crowley had originally planned to start calls at Gulfport Oct. 1. The one-week delay means service will begin with the northbound sailing of the roll-on/roll-off ship 'Gothica,' which will bring cargo from Central America including Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
Shipments that would normally move through Gulfport have been diverted to Port Everglades in Florida.
