CROWLEY LINER SERVICES PICKS GT NEXUS SOLUTION
Crowley Liner Services, based in Jacksonville, has contracted with GT Nexus, a collaborative shipping portal, for a “private label” deployment of shipment execution software.
Under their multiyear agreement, GT Nexus will use its Execution product suit to expand Crowley’s ability to provide Web-based shipment transaction services for customers.
GT Nexus’s software, deployed as a Web-hosted service, will be available from Crowley’s corporate Web site, at http://www.crowley.com, as a customized e-commerce platform.
The system will allow shippers to automate and standardize schedules, bookings, cargo tracking and documents.
Since April 2001, Crowley has been a participant in the GT Nexus Network, a portal where a number of ocean carriers collectively provide customers with a single platform and web-based processes for shipping transactions.
Other members of the GT Nexus Network include APL, CP Ships, CSAV, Hanjin, Hyundai, “K” Line, MOL, NYK Line, Senator Lines, Wan Hai, Yang Ming and Zim Israel Navigation Co.
Crowley Liner Services is the ocean container-shipping unit of Crowley Maritime Corp., based in Oakland, Calif.
GT Nexus has its headquarters in Alameda, Calif.
