CROWLEY WILL START 4TH WEEKLY RUN TO CENTRAL AMERICA
On Jan. 26, Crowley Liner Services, based in Jacksonville, Fla., will add a fourth RO/RO vessel to its service between Florida and Central America.
The MV Marcella II will sail between Port Everglades, in South Florida, and Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and El Salvador.
This new service will allow for four weekly, fixed-day sailings, increasing Crowley’s available vessel capacity by approximately 23 percent, or about 113 FEUs (40-foot equivalent units) per week.
Crowley vessels will now sail from Port Everglades every Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday to the Northern Zone of Central America, including stops at Santo Tomas, Guatemala, and Puerto Cortes, in Honduras.
Cargo volumes on such routes “have been strong, especially in the wearing apparel sector, which is now benefiting from NAFTA-CBI Parity legislation enacted in October,” said Rinus Schepen, Crowley’s senior vice president and general manager.
