CSI inspections underway in Buenos Aires
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers are on site in Argentina at the Port of Buenos Aires, the 41st foreign port to conduct outbound inspections of cargo under the Container Security Initiative, CBP said.
Argentina agreed to participate in CSI last May. The job of U.S. inspectors is to identify suspicious shipments and request Argentine customs authorities to inspect them before loading on a vessel to the United States.
CBP plans to have 50 CSI ports by the end of 2006.
