CSX, Norfolk Southern break for Thanksgiving
CSX said it has discontinued train operations 6 p.m. Wednesday, with operations resuming 7 a.m. Friday.
Only essential, pre-arranged train service will take place during this time. Terminals will be closed from 7 a.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday.
The railroad will continue to deliver and receive interchange traffic at key gateways.
Meanwhile, Norfolk Southern, the other major U.S. East Coast railroad, said it would reduce scheduled operations beginning late Wednesday and resume normal operations Dec. 1 due to reduced shipment volumes during the holiday.
Customers with shipments moving during this period should allow additional transit time, NS said.
