CSX World Terminals begins operations at Yantai, China
CSX World Terminals LLC said it has commenced operations at the Phase III container terminal in Yantai, China, through a joint venture contracts signed earlier this year with the Yantai Port Authority.
Operations began at the port Nov. 18, in conjunction with CSXWT purchasing 50 percent of the shares of the terminal joint venture. The Charlotte, N.C.-based company is responsible for operations of the terminal.
The Yantai terminal, completed in early 2002, has two berths totaling 573 meters, 14-meter draft and an annual capacity of more than 1 million TEUs. It's equipped with four guay shore cranes, three rubber-tired cranes and six rail-mounted gantry cranes.
