CSXT PLANS $32-MILLION UPGRADE IN ALABAMA

CSX Transportation Inc., the Jacksonville, Fla.-based freight railroad unit of CSX Corp., said it will spend more than $32 million this year to maintain and upgrade its network in Alabama.

The railroad owns about 1,240 miles of track in that state, and has major facilities in Mobile, Birmingham, and Montgomery.

The money will upgrade tracks, signals and infrastructure, said Lyle Key, CSXT’s regional vice president-state relations for Alabama.
