CUSTOMS INCREASES NAVIGATION FEES
U.S. Customs has increased its navigation fees to more adequately reimburse the government for its costs to enter and clear vessels, starting March 14.
The agency said the current fee schedule was last revised in 1985, and “does not reflect the current salary and benefit costs and other appropriate costs.”
The fee to enter or vessels of 100 net tons or more has been raised from $18 to $37. For a complete list of the new fee schedule, check online at http://frwebgate2.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/waisgate.cgi?WAISdocID=0001820918+1+0+0&WAISaction=retrieve.
