CUSTOMS TO START ITDS PILOT TEST IN BUFFALO JUNE 18
The U.S. Customs Service said it will commence its pilot program for the International Trade Data System, June 18 in Buffalo, N.Y.
ITDS, the future front-end of Customs' Automated Commercial Environment, promises to link as many as 100 federal agencies with an interest in trade data, once fully operational.
The pilot, which will be for trucks only, will begin first at the Peace Bridge location and 30 days later at the Lewiston Bridge location. It will run for 15 months and may be extended.
Under the pilot, participants will submit relevant information to ITDS for imports, and ITDS will transmit certain elements of this information to pertinent agencies for processing the import.
Applications to participate in the pilot may be submitted throughout its duration. For more information, contact Janet Pence, at (703) 921-7500. Applications and additional information on ITDS is available on the Internet at http://www.itds.treas.gov .
