Before that, COSCO will end its smaller, independently operated weekly “PNW Express” service.
The new “PNX” service of the alliance will start in on Feb. 1, when the “Hanjin Marseilles” is scheduled to depart from Yantian. The service will deploy five Hanjin ships averaging 4,100 TEUs, adding about 210,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity to the transpacific market.
The rotation for the new PNX service is Yantian; Hong Kong; Kaohsiung; Kwangyang; Seattle, Wash.; Vancouver, B.C.; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; Tokyo; Kaohsiung; Yantian and Hong Kong.
COSCO’s “PNW Express,” to be discontinued, had operated with five ships of 1,702 TEUs, providing some 100,000 TEUs a year in one-way capacity. The final voyage is underway, with the “Xiang Yun He” scheduled to make its last call at Shanghai on Jan. 18.
