DAVIES TURNER ADDS FASHION DIVISION

Davies Turner, the U.K.-based freight forwarder, has launched a fashion division to manage the supply chains of companies shipping raw materials and finished garments.

Davies Turner Fashion will offer sea, road and air-freight service as well as customs freight simplified procedures, storage, inventory management and order sorting.

The forwarder has managed logistics for a range of goods from shoes to clothing and fabric and accessories.

“Over the last decade we have seen our fashion logistics networks extend from traditional European markets into Turkey, and production centers throughout the Mediterranean, including North Africa, as well as the Balkans and Eastern Europe,” said John McCartney, sales and development director of Davies Turner. “South Asia and the Far East also remain high growth areas, whilst the strong dollar restricts shipments from North America.

Some markets enjoy two-way trade in the supply of basic materials, such as fabric, trim and accessories, and the return of finished garments.

The company has expanded its apparel handling equipment and had developed a new 150,000-square-foot hub, equipped with racking for 12,000 pallet slots and 80,000 square feet of mezzanine floor for shelving and pick faces.
