DEMARIANO RESIGNS AT PORT EVERGLADES

   Paul DeMariano, port director of Port Everglades since 1999, has resigned.

   Ellen Kennedy, the port’s media director, said an executive search was underway nationally for a successor to DeMariano.

   DeMariano, who had been port director in Port Everglades before, as well as at Jacksonville and Philadelphia.

   During his most recent tenure in South Florida, DeMariano met with controversy over the port’s role in negotiating a sole operator franchise for Seabulk International (formerly Hvide Marine).
