DEUTSCHE POST IN TALKS TO ACQUIRE AIRBORNE’S U.S. GROUND NETWORK

   Deutsche Post confirmed on Monday that it is talking to Airborne Inc. about a possible purchase by the German group of Airborne’s ground network.

   Deutsche Post said that it could not disclose any further information on the discussions now.

   Deutsche Post wants its express arm DHL Worldwide Express to expand in the United States, a market where DHL faces strong competition from FedEx and UPS.

   Deutsche Post, the parent company of Danzas and DHL, will publish its full annual results today (Tuesday). It is also expected to announce brand name changes converning the way it markets express and other services.
