DHL EXPANDS SERVICE PARTS LOGISTICS INTO U.S., CANADA

DHL Worldwide Express said the opening of a express logistics center in San Francisco is an initial step in the air express provider's plan to expand its service parts logistics capability into the United States and Canada.

DHL operates U.S.-based express logistics centers in Cincinnati and Miami, and internationally in Brussels, Bahrain, Johannesburg, Hong Kong, Sydney and Singapore. DHL will open a center in Tokyo in October.

DHL's express logistics centers serve as both value-added regional logistics centers and buffer stock locations to replenish the company's network of strategic parts centers. The SPCs are strategically located to ensure two- to four-hour delivery of customers' mission-critical operations.

The company plans to operate 55 SPC in the United States and 330 globally by the end of 2002.
