DHL starts Osaka/Hong Kong LCL service

DHL has started less-than-containerload ocean freight service from Osaka to Hong Kong, the company said Friday.

'Until now, LCL loading in Japan's Kansai region had been conducted at the Port of Kobe,' DHL said. 'Shipments from Osaka are transported to DHL's multinational gateway in Hong Kong for global distribution, connecting to key markets including the Mediterranean, Europe and Middle East.'

The service is offered through DHL's in-house carrier, Danmar Lines.

'Demand for global logistics services is extremely high in the Kansai area, particularly in Osaka, which is a major manufacturing base for electronics, textiles, apparel, general machinery, metal machinery and other heavy industries,' said Daigo Seki, general manager of ocean freight Japan, DHL Global Forwarding Japan.
