DHL’s Sartor named vice chairman of RosettaNet standards council
Bob Sartor, DHL’s director, industry and customer programs, global customer solutions, has been appointed as vice chairman to the executive committee of RosettaNet.
As a subsidiary of the Uniform Code Council, RosettaNet is a non-profit consortium of major companies and organizations designed to create and implement industry-wide, open e-business process standards using the extensible markup language (XML) platform.
As vice chairman, Sartor is chairman elect of RosettaNet and will assume the role at the end of the current chairman’s two-year term. He also holds leadership positions in similar standards organizations Cargo 2000 and EPCglobal.
“DHL builds its e-business platforms around the requirements of our customers, but through our collaboration with various industry organizations we can bring greater benefits to DHL and the customer by standardizing information systems and processes,” Sartor said. “Active participation in RosettaNet and other industry consortiums affords DHL the opportunity to leverage best practices, develop standards, and improve processes. This can dramatically improve operating efficiencies for DHL, and create a more productive working environment with our customers, fostering a better overall business relationship.”
DHL joined the RosettaNet consortium in 1999. In 2003, DHL joined and gained leadership roles on RosettaNet Supply Chain Councils. Following its acquisition of Exel, DHL now holds the role of chairman and vice chairman on RosettaNet’s Logistics and Electronic Components Supply Chain Councils, respectively. DHL’s leadership positions on RosettaNet Supply Chain Councils are currently held by Cindy Smith, chief information officer, global forwarding, DHL Americas; Mark Patel, DHL Exel Supply Chain, Asia Pacific; and now Sartor.
