DOT approves China rights for Continental
The U.S. Department of Transportation last week made final its February proposal allowing Continental Airlines to enter the U.S./China air market with seven weekly passenger flights between Newark, N.J. and Beijing beginning March 25.
The flights are expected to be popular with forwarders interested in booking cargo between the two large trading partners.
The new China access is a byproduct of last year’s bilateral aviation agreement between the United States and China that opened up the aviation market.
