DOT GIVES VESSEL-OVERSIGHT TO MARAD
U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta has delegated to Maritime Administrator William Schubert his authority to keep government-impelled cargoes off ships found to be in violation of international safety conventions which the United States is a party.
