DRAGONAIR TO ACQUIRE THIRD BOEING 747-300
Dragonair has signed an agreement with Boeing to purchase a used 747-300, the third freighter in the airline’s cargo fleet.
The combi plane, the first that Dragonair has bought from Boeing, will be converted for all-cargo use by TAECO in Xiamen, China, and is scheduled to offer service at the end of this year.
Dragonair’s two Boeing 747-300s entered service last year. They fly to Europe and the Middle East five times a week, and twice weekly to Shanghai and Osaka.
The Hong Kong-based airline's cargo operation carried more than 121,000 tons of freight in 2001, up 46 percent over 2000.
