Dragonair’s cargo up 20.7%
Hong Kong-based Dragonair reported Thursday its freight volumes increased 20.7 percent to 31,657 tons in June, compared to 26,234 tons in June 2004.
For the year-to-date, Dragonair carried 179,931 tons, a 21.8 percent rise over the 147,680 tons recorded in the same period last year.
“June is traditionally a quieter month for shipments, but with mainland (China) exports continuing to power ahead this was not the case last month. Year-on-year the figure was even better, due to increased capacity and our expanded freighter network,” said Stanley Hui, Dragonair’s chief executive officer.
“However, yet again, we saw oil prices hit new highs. It’s a great concern, and the impact on our overall bottom line will be significant,” Hui added.
