Dragonair’s cargo up 4.1% in August
Hong Kong-based Dragonair said Monday it carried 31,856 tons of cargo in August, a 4.1 percent rise over the 30,613 tons in the same month last year.
The airline said August’s figures were 2.7 percent lower than in July mainly due to the recent textile imports dispute between China and the European Union.
For the year-to-date, Dragonair has carried 244,532 tons, up 18.4 percent over the 206,488 tons recorded after the first eight months of 2004.
“Traditionally we see volumes surge in mid-August; the trade dispute with Europe and one with the U.S. has seen this delayed this year, but we are therefore optimistic about volumes in the coming months,” said Stanley Hui, Dragonair’s chief executive officer.
