Dragonair’s cargo volume up 14% in February
Hong Kong-based Dragonair transported 24,678 tons of freight in February, an increase of 14.1 percent compared to 21,624 tons carried during the same month in 2005.
For the year to date, Dragonair has lifted 56,018 tons, up 9 percent over the 51,383 tons recorded after the first two months last year.
“The rise in the amount of freight carried in February was attributable to the additional cargo capacity in our fleet and the timing of the Lunar New Year in 2006 compared with 2005,” said Stanley Hui, Dragonair’s chief executive officer.
“The period after the Lunar New Year holidays is always slow for air cargo shipments, and this was reflected in the lower month-on-month volume. The air cargo market should recover from early March onwards,” Hui said.
