DRIVERS ASSOCIATION FILES CLASS ACTION AGAINST LANDSTAR
The Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, Inc. and six individual trucking owner-operators have filed a class-action suit in federal court in Jacksonville, Fla., against Landstar System Inc.
The lawsuit alleges that parts of Landstar’s motor carrier leases with owner-operators violate federal leasing regulations.
Landstar, which doesn’t employ company drivers, exclusively uses third-party owner-operators.
“I believe that the OOIDA lawsuit is self-serving,” said Jeff Crowe, Landstar’s chairman and chief executive officer. “Landstar’s business model treats its owner operators fairly, and as the true entrepreneurs they are.”
