Dubai ports authority sees 24.7% container rise
The Dubai ports authority, recent purchaser of CSX World Terminals, saw its container throughput for 2004 increase 24.7 percent to a record 6.4 million TEUs, compared to 5.2 million in 2003.
Inbound TEUs through the authority’s ports totaled 1.8 million up 27.7 percent. Outbound TEUs were 1.4 million a rise of 26 percent. Transshipment throughput jumped 23.1 percent to 3.2 million TEUs.
DPA’s general cargo tonnage for 2004 increased 20 percent to 6.3 million tons.
