DULUTH SEAWAY PORT AUTHORITY TO EXPAND STORAGE
The Duluth Seaway Port Authority has awarded Lakehead Constructors Inc., the construction contract for a 106,000 square-foot annex to Clure Public Marine Terminal. The $3.4 million project will increase the terminal's total cargo storage capacity to about 370,00 square feet.
The project is being funded by a Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDOT) Port Development Assistance Program grant for 80 percent of the total project cost up to $3.2 million. The port authority will pay the balance.
The annex is scheduled to be complete by March 2002. It will add 88,000 square feet of actual storage capacity while an additional 18,000 square feet will be used for a canopied railcar dock.
